There is now a fee schedule for providing telemedicine services for injured workers in Texas, the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers Compensation announced Wednesday.
The code, available on the division’s website, expands access to telemedicine services in the Texas workers compensation system by allowing health care providers to bill and be reimbursed for telemedicine or telehealth services regardless of where the injured employee is located at the time the services are delivered, according to the announcement.
The new fee schedule is applicable to telemedicine and telehealth services provided on or after Sept. 1, 2018.
Three-quarters of medical providers currently offer or plan to offer telemedicine services, according to the results of a survey released Tuesday by the law firm Foley & Lardner L.L.P.
