BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Pool Re names ILS adviser and placement agent

Pool Reinsurance Co. Ltd., the U.K. government-backed terrorism reinsurance backstop, has named GC Securities L.L.C., a division of MMC Securities L.L.C., as its insurance-linked securities adviser and placement agent following a competitive request for proposal, Pool Re said in a statement Wednesday.

This will allow Pool Re to assess its options from the ILS market, including the types of structures available, the viability of a placement and the ILS market’s appetite for terrorism risk, the statement said.

“Extending our protection by accessing the ILS market is something which we have been looking at for some time,” Julian Enoizi, CEO of Pool Re, said in the statement. “We have significantly improved our own understanding of the risk. Now is the right time to explore the appetite of broader capital for this increasingly well-understood peril.”

“Guy Carpenter has worked closely with Pool Re to assist with the development of its innovative risk model and the placement of its traditional reinsurance program,” James Nash, international president for Guy Carpenter & Co. L.L.C., said in the statement. “This new engagement provides an exciting opportunity to explore the benefits of structuring and placing terrorism risk with the ILS market and enhance Pool Re’s position as a pioneer in the global terrorism reinsurance market.”
