BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Nebraska contractor cited for excavation collapse hazards

U.S. workplace safety regulators have cited a Nebraska contractor for failing to protect its workers from excavation collapse hazards and proposed penalties of $46,930.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Premier Underground L.L.C. after agency inspectors observed employees installing water and sewer lines in two unprotected trenches on the same jobsite, according to an OSHA press release on Tuesday.

OSHA cited the company for one willful and six serious violations for exposing workers to crush hazards, and for failing to train workers on trenching hazards, provide a safe means of egress from the trench, conduct daily site inspections and place soil piles a safe distance from the open excavation, according to the statement.

A company spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
