BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Dental hygienist pleads guilty to lying in comp case

A Lynnwood, Washington, woman has been sentenced to community service after admitting she lied when she claimed she wasn’t working while receiving workers compensation benefits, the state Department of Labor & Industries announced Monday.

Shari Lee Kristiansen, 55, pleaded guilty on Thursday to making a false or misleading statement to the agency, the department said in a statement.

A King County, Washington, Superior Court judge sentenced Ms. Kristiansen to serve 180 hours of community service. Under terms of the deferred sentence, the gross misdemeanor charge will be dismissed after two years if she makes no further false statements, does not break the law and complies with other requirements, according to the department.

In pleading guilty, Ms. Kristiansen stated she made a false or misleading statement when she signed a workers compensation form verifying that she wasn’t employed when she was actually working part time, according to the department.
