BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Altman confirmed as Pennsylvania insurance head

Jessica Altman was unanimously confirmed to be Pennsylvania’s insurance commissioner on Tuesday.

Ms. Altman has been serving as acting insurance commissioner since Aug. 19, according to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department in Harrisburg. She previously served as chief of staff for the department and as top aide to former Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller beginning in June 2015.

Prior to joining the department, Ms. Altman worked at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, where she developed policy and facilitated implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In addition, she served as a policy analyst for the health division of the White House Office of Management and Budget.

“Her varied and focused experience will help significantly as she continues to lead the Department of Insurance,” Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement on Tuesday.

Ms. Miller left the department last year to lead the state’s Department of Health and Human Services.
