U.S. workplace safety regulators have cited Kraft Heinz Foods Co. and proposed $109,939 in penalties after an employee suffered a partial finger amputation while clearing a machine jam.
Inspectors for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration determined that the company failed to implement energy control procedures to prevent equipment from unintentionally starting, install adequate machine guards and energy isolation devices and train employees on the use of energy control procedures at its Mason, Ohio, facility, according to an agency statement published Friday.
A company spokesperson could not be immediately reached for comment.
The Kraft Heinz Co. will stop offering employer-sponsored health coverage to some of its retirees at the end of this year.
