Insurer showing pastor it’s not going to let payments slide

A North Carolina pastor who said she had a crippling disease is being sued by her insurer, which says it found social media photos of her going down a slide and playing Skee-Ball at a church outing, The News and Observer in Charlotte, North Carolina, reported Sunday.
Cynthia McCullough of Charlotte told her insurer New York Life that reflex sympathetic dystrophy left her disabled, but a Facebook post from late 2016 shows her smiling, going down a slide, arms wide open, with the caption: “…showing the little kids how it’s done.”
Meanwhile, on insurance forms the pastor claimed she needed constant home care, and was unable to bathe and dress herself, according to the lawsuit filed by the insurer in federal court in Charlotte on Friday. The National Organization for Rare Disorders describes reflex sympathetic dystrophy as a chronic nervous system disorder that causes severe pain.
McCullough has collected $389,500 from her comprehensive long-term care insurance policy since 2010, according to the lawsuit, as reported in the News and Observer.
The insurer wants its money back, according to the news report.
