Factories across Venezuela have been forced to shut down amid lack of supplies and raw materials, skyrocketing inflation and a rising wave of violent looting, Bloomberg reported. Industrial hubs such as Guarenas and Guatire near the country's capital Caracas have been hit by foreign-exchange controls, collapse of the economy, price caps and an inflationary spiral that surpassed 2,300% in 2017. The government has asked Nestle S.A. and The Procter & Gamble Co. to lower prices.
