Landslide causes more than $40 million of damage in Swiss village

The municipality of Bregaglia in Switzerland said that a landslide that swept through the village of Bondo in the Graubünden canton on Aug. 23 caused 41 million Swiss francs ($41.5 million) worth of damage, Swissinfo.ch reported. The municipality said that the landslide caused CHF 10 million worth of damage to infrastructure. The landslide damaged nearly 66 buildings and destroyed another 33. The cantonal building insurance will cover CHF 12.5 million of the damage, the municipality added.
