Julie Mix McPeak to take over as NAIC president

Tennessee Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak will become president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Jan. 1. 

Ms. McPeak, who frequently testifies on Capitol Hill on behalf of the NAIC, was appointed by Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to lead the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance on Jan. 12, 2011. Ms. McPeak was named one of the 2013 Business Insurance Women to Watch.

Maine Insurance Superintendent Eric A. Cioppa will be president-elect of the NAIC, the Kansas City, Missouri-based organization announced at its 2017 fall meeting in Honolulu. He was confirmed as superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance in September 2011.

South Carolina Insurance Director Raymond G. Farmer will become vice president of the NAIC, while Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Gordon I. Ito will become secretary-treasurer. Gov. Nikki Haley appointed Mr. Farmer to serve as director for the South Carolina Department of Insurance on Nov. 13, 2012, while Mr. Ito was reappointed by Gov. David Y. Ige to serve as commissioner of the Hawaii Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs-Insurance Division on Jan. 1, 2015.
