Agricultural damage from quake nearly $230 million

Khosro Shahbazi, head of Agricultural Jihad Organization of Kermanshah Province in Iran, said that the Nov. 12 earthquake caused an estimated 8 trillion Iranian rial ($227 million) worth of damage to the agriculture industry, Financial Tribune reported citing Islamic Republic News Agency. "Damage caused to livestock farms, fodder barns and agricultural processing industries accounts for IRR 3 trillion of the total amount," Mr. Shahbazi said. "More than IRR 3.3 trillion in damage were inflicted on water and soil infrastructures, including pumping stations, water wells and irrigation pools."
