AIG snags MetLife exec to run international operations

AIG snags MetLife exec to run international operations

American International Group Inc. on Monday named MetLife Inc. executive Chris Townsend to the newly created role of CEO, international general insurance.

Mr. Townsend, who previously was president of MetLife’s Asia region will be a member of AIG’s general insurance executive leadership team, which oversees its property/casualty operations. He is expected to join AIG in the first quarter of 2018, according to an AIG statement.

Mr. Townsend previously worked at AIG from 2010 to 2012 as CEO of its Asia Pacific region, according to the statement.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Chris back to AIG,” said Peter Zaffino, CEO, general insurance at AIG, in the statement. “He is a highly experienced leader in the insurance industry who knows our company well. He brings deep international expertise to our team, as well as a proven track record of delivering strong financial and operating results.
