Fire causes nearly $50 million of loss at Malaysian plant

Malaysia-based precision components firm Notion VTec Berhad said that a fire at its main plant in Klang is likely to have caused up to 200 million Malaysian ringgit ($47.3 million) worth of losses, New Strait Times reported. The firm said that the fire, which occurred on Oct. 20, damaged more than 552 computer numeric control machines, work-in-progress goods and the quality-control building. VTec said that it has insurance coverage of MYR 350 million for property damage and MYR 217 million for business interruption for up to 18 months.
