Indian airport operator may not claim insurance for losses due to cancellation of more than 180 flights

Aviation safety consultants said that Indian airport operator Mumbai International Airport Ltd. may not be able to claim insurance for losses incurred due to cancellation of 181 flights on Sep. 20 after an aircraft skidded of the runaway at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, The Indian Express reported. The aircraft was operated by Indian airline SpiceJet Ltd. An expert said that the SpiceJet aircraft incident was a runway excursion and MIAL would not be in a position to claim it as an accident.
