Automakers likely to face billions of euros in fines

A study by U.K.-based PA Consulting Group Ltd. found that automakers including Germany-based Volkswagen A.G., BMW A.G. and Daimler A.G. are likely to face fines running into the billions of euros for failing to meet new European carbon dioxide emissions limits slated for 2021, The Economic Times reported citing Agence France Presse. "Only four out of 11 carmakers are forecast to meet the EU 2021 CO2 emission target, with the rest facing significant fines," said researchers at PA Consulting.
