Berkshire Hathaway specialty unit expands in Europe

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. on Wednesday said it is expanding its team in southern Europe.
The Boston-based unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has named Vanessa Maxwell as head of professional indemnity and cyber insurance and Tom Dilley as head of financial institutions, both based in London, BHSI said in a statement.
The executives’ territory includes the U.K. and southern Europe, according to the statement.
Ms. Maxwell joins the company after 15 years at American International Group Inc., where she was most recently head of professional liability for U.K cyber and commercial institutions.
Mr. Dilley joins the company from Chubb Ltd., where he was most recently head of financial institutions for U.K. and Ireland.
“Vanessa will focus on building our professional indemnity and cyber portfolio while Tom will grow our financial institutions book of business,” Patrick Brown, head of executive and professional lines for U.K. and Southern Europe, said in the statement.
