Tim Lombard, senator at Ireland's upper house, said that high insurance premiums in the country need to be curtailed to ensure that they are affordable for the agriculture and business sectors, West Cork Times reported. "In order for insurance premiums to be sustainably reduced there needs to be more competition within Ireland's insurance sector," Mr. Lombard said. "To address this issue the government must make the market more attractive to potential insurance competitors," he added.
