Argentina aims to attract more international reinsurers

Argentina's insurance regulator has issued a resolution aimed at opening the local reinsurance market to international players, Lexology reported. The new regulatory framework would also strengthen the solvency of local reinsurers by increasing the minimum required capital levels. Under the proposed rules Argentine cedents may directly place business with admitted reinsurers up to a maximum of 50% of its premiums ceded by contract as of July 1, up to 60% in 2018 and up to 75% in 2019.
