BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Allianz appoints new board members

Munich-based Allianz S.E. said Thursday that its supervisory board has appointed new members and proposed candidates for board elections.

Giulio Terzariol, 45, has been appointed to the board effective Jan. 1, 2018. He will be responsible for the finance, controlling and risk management division. He will succeed Dieter Wemmer, 60, whose contract ends at the end of 2017 upon reaching the board’s designated age limit.

Mr. Terzariol joined Allianz 19 years ago and most recently served as CFO of Allianz Life in the U.S. for seven years. Since the beginning of 2016, he has been responsible for group planning and controlling. He is appointed to the board of management until December 31, 2020.

Niran Peiris, 55, has been appointed to the board effective Jan. 1, 2018, until Dec. 31, 2020. He has been with Allianz for 16 years in various management positions at Allianz Australia, including CEO.

He will take over the global insurance lines, Anglo markets, Russia and ESG from Axel Theis. Mr. Theis, 58, will take over Insurance German Speaking Countries and Central and Eastern Europe from Werner Zedelius, 59, whose contract ends at the end of 2017 upon reaching the board’s designated age limit.

COO Christof Mascher, 56, has been a board member since 2009, and his contract has been extended by three years until the end of 2020. Michael Diekmann, 62, will be nominated to the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting 2017 on May 3. He was Allianz S.E. CEO between 2003 and 2015 and became a member of the board in 1998.

Allianz said Helmut Perlet, 69, will not stand for re-election at the annual general meeting 2017 due to age. If Mr. Diekmann is elected to the supervisory board at the annual general meeting, he will be nominated to be chairman of the supervisory board.

Sophie Boissard, 46, CEO of the French Korian Group, and Herbert Hainer, 62, former CEO of Adidas AG, will be nominated for election to the supervisory board as shareholder representatives, succeeding Renate Köcher, 64, and Wulf Bernotat, 68.

Ms. Köcher has been a member of the supervisory board for 13 years and will not stand for re-election due to the limitation of affiliation recommended by the German Corporate Governance Code. Mr. Bernotat is close to the supervisory board’s designated age limit. Christine Bosse, 56, Friedrich Eichiner, 61, and Jim Hagemann Snabe, 51, will be nominated for re-election to the supervisory board as shareholder representatives.
