Insurers in the Indian state of Haryana have rejected nearly 45% or 3,229 of the 7,224 claim applications submitted by farmers to get compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for damage to kharif crops due to waterlogging, The Tribune reports.
Sirsa district leads with 469 rejected applications, followed by Bhiwani and Hisar with 468 and 445, respectively.
"Insurance claims for 2.9 million Indian rupees ($42,750) in Sirsa, INR 15.2 million in Bhiwani and INR 17.9 million in Hisar had been decided," sources said.
