Liberty Mutual appoints new Helmsman presidentReprints
Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. said Thursday it has named Boston-based David Dwortz president of Helmsman Management Services L.L.C., Liberty Mutual’s third party claims administrator.
Mr. Dwortz succeeds Debbie Michel, who was named executive vice president of national insurance casualty for Liberty Mutual in October, the insurer said in a statement.
Previously, Mr. Dwortz led distribution for commercial insurance with Liberty Mutual, where he managed the insurer’s agent and broker relationships. During his 16 years with Liberty Mutual, Mr. Dwortz also ran Liberty Mutual’s complex claims unit, according to the statement.
Helmsman, which is wholly owned by Liberty Mutual, is the 10th largest TPA, according to Business Insurance's most recent ranking.
Liberty Mutual said in May that it was exploring unbundling its insurance underwriting from Helmsman's claims services in order to gain new business.
