Benefits administrators merge to serve broader market

Middle-market benefits administration platform Benefit Express Services L.L.C. said Thursday that it has acquired online benefits enrollment administrator BenefitsConnect.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rancho Cordova, California-based BenefitsConnect is a broker-centric benefits administration and online enrollment solution, Benefit Express, which is based in Schaumburg, Illinois, said in a statement.

Through the acquisition, BenefitsConnects’ network of insurance brokers will have access to solutions for larger employers, such as health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts, COBRA/Direct Bill and dependent audits, while Benefit Express will have enhanced Affordable Care Act capabilities, according to the statement.
