Chubb promotes exec to reinsurance post

Chubb Ltd. has named Philadelphia-based Michael Kessler vice president of Chubb Group and chief reinsurance officer to replace William O'Farrell who is leaving the company. The appointment takes effect Aug. 1.

Mr. Kessler will have management responsibility for the design and purchase of reinsurance programs for Chubb and its business units globally, managing the company's reinsurance recoverable assets and overseeing relationships with its reinsurers and reinsurance brokers, Chubb said in a Thursday statement.

In addition, Mr. Kessler will serve as chairman of Chubb's reinsurance security committee and as a member of its global credit committee. Previously, Mr. Kessler was chief actuary of Chubb Overseas General, the company's international general insurance business, according to the statement.
