The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association has launched international private medical insurance products.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Global health plans are for multinational employers and individuals that are traveling globally, the Chicago-based association said Thursday in a statement.
The plans include Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Expat and Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Traveler. Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Expat is a plan is designed for employees on international assignments and their families when they leave their home countries for six months or more. Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Traveler provides group supplemental medical benefits and services for business travelers outside of their home country for trips lasting up to 180 days, according to the statement.
The products are sold by GeoBlue, a BCBSA licensee that sells international travel and expatriate insurance to U.S. employers.
