BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Property/casualty insurer taps Aetna exec as CEO

The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. on Monday said it has named Joseph M. Zubretsky president, CEO and director effective June 20.

Mr. Zubretsky, 59, will succeed Frederick H. Eppinger, who announced his plans to retire last fall. He will work with Mr. Zubretsky to manage the transition, the Worcester, Massachusetts-based property/casualty insurer said in a statement.

Mr. Zubretsky, who has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries, is taking the helm at Hanover after almost nine years at Aetna Inc., where he was most recently CEO of its Healthagen Holdings unit and a member of Aetna’s executive committee. Prior to that, he was senior executive vice president at National Businesses, an Aetna division that provides health solutions to multinational companies, and Aetna’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, according to the statement.

In a statement, Mr. Zubretsky said he was looking forward “to working with the outstanding team at The Hanover, to build on the company’s excellent market position, deliver high-quality insurance solutions, strong and sustainable profitable growth, and superior value for our shareholders and all of our other stakeholders.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Joe to The Hanover,” Michael P. Angelini, chairman of Hanover’s board of directors, said in a statement. “Our board is confident that he is uniquely qualified to work with our exceptional leadership team to continue our company’s success and expand our business. We have every expectation that Joe and our team will take our company to the next level.”

Commenting on Mr. Eppinger, Mr. Angelini said, “To call Fred’s service to The Hanover exceptional is to understate it. He inherited a smaller, regional company and led its transformation over 13 years into a respected, leading national carrier with international capabilities, inspiring many and creating tremendous shareholder value.”
