Heavy snowfall, frost damage crops worth millions in Europe

NFO, the Dutch Fruit Growers Organization, has said that heavy snowfall and frost have caused huge crop damage across several European nations such as Italy, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland and France, reports FreshPlaza.

Early estimates suggest that about 2,000 fruit cultivators in Austria's Styria state have lost about €100 million ($115 million) due to frost, the NFO said.

Heavy snow also affected apple, pear and stone fruit cultivation in Slovenia.

NFO expects snow and cold temperatures to continue.
