Recent quakes cause $212 million damage to agriculture, forestry in Japan's Kumamoto

Data by the government of Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture has shown that the recent earthquakes that struck the country caused 23.6 billion Japanese yen ($212 million) in damage to the prefecture's agriculture and forestry sectors, reports The Asahi Shimbun.

The amount does not include damage estimates for some areas including Mashiki town, Minami-Aso village and Nishihara village. Landslides caused around JPY 15 billion worth of damage to the forestry industry in the cities of Kumamoto, Uki and Tamana and other municipalities.
