Nonlife insurers settle about 92% of quake claims

Nepal's Insurance Board said that nonlife insurers have settled about 92% of claims related to the April 2015 earthquake, reported The Himalayan Times.

Insurers have settled 16,294 claims worth 10.86 billion Nepalese rupees ($102 million).

A total of 17,658 claims worth NPR 18.40 billion had been lodged with different insurers.

The regulator said that 4,910 claims worth about NPR 440 million that were found to be non-eligible have also been listed as settled.

Prudential Insurance Co. Ltd. settled the highest number of claims as of April 21.
