Cyber attack on utilities could cost U.K. $631 billion

A recent report has found that a cyber attack on the U.K.'s power grid and water system could cost the nation up to £442 billion ($631 billion) over five years, reported TechWeekEurope UK.

The report said that the immediate impact of the attack could total £85 billion. In the best-case scenario, the report estimates that 800,000 individual train journeys and 150,000 air passenger tickets would be affected each day until power systems were back up and running. The country's financial services industry could be hit by £1.3 billion in losses using a best-case scenario, said the report.
