Two Texas agencies join forces

Higginbotham & Associates said on Wednesday that it has merged with Capps Insurance Agency.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Higginbotham is an independent insurance broker of U.S. business, and Capps is an independent broker in Mount Pleasant, Texas, Higginbotham said in a statement.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Capps has 33 employees, and this partnership brings the total number of Higginbotham employees to 750 in 24 offices. Capps will continue operating under its existing under the leadership of managing directors Steve Capps and Norman Wilson and agency manager Jim Fraley, according to the statement.

“A key motivation to merging with Capps and other firms that have niche expertise is to enhance our ability to serve any business in any industry, anywhere in Texas,” Higginbotham president and CEO Rusty Reid said in the statement.

Higginbotham is the 32nd largest broker of U.S. business according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
