Bushfire seasons becoming more extreme due to climate change: Climate Institute

The Climate Institute of Australia has said that bushfire seasons in the country are becoming longer and more extreme due to climate change, reported The Northern Star.

"Bushfire risk is increasing in bushfire-prone parts of Australia - generally, the south-east and south-west - and that climate change caused by human activity is a significant factor in the environmental changes that are creating these conditions," said John Connor, the institute's CEO.

"Tasmania is expected to see a 120% increase in the number of fire days categorized above 'very high' by 2100," added Mr. Connor.
