BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Nearly 8.7 million individuals signed up with health insurance plans through the federal exchange during the first 10 weeks of enrollment for 2016 coverage, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported Wednesday.

Of the 8,682,471 individuals who selected exchange coverage between Nov. 1 and Jan. 9, 74,239 opted for coverage between Jan. 3 and Jan. 9.

Enrollment in the federal exchange is significantly higher compared with about the same period a year ago. From Nov. 15, 2014 through Jan. 9, 2015, just under 6.8 million individuals had enrolled in plans offered through the exchange.

Of the 38 states in which the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services operates the exchanges, the most enrollees during the first 10 weeks of open enrollment were in Florida, where 1,583,088 individuals opted for coverage followed by Texas with 1,120,440 and North Carolina with 563,830.

States with the smallest exchange enrollment include Hawaii with 11,949, North Dakota, 20,046 and Wyoming, 21,221.

Earlier, HHS reported that 2.7 million individuals had enrolled — generally through Dec. 26, in the 13 states, including the District of Columbia, with their own exchanges. More than half, 1.4 million, of those state exchange enrollees opted for coverage in California’s exchange, the largest, by far, state health insurance exchange.
