BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

National Business Coalition on Health seeks fresh leadership

The National Business Coalition on Health is looking for a new president and CEO, and interim CEO Charles Smithers Jr. said he is not applying for the permanent post.

The Washington-based nonprofit organization said in a statement Monday that it is seeking a “proven leader with a strong track record of business success … to help us capitalize on the assets, expertise and unique position of NBCH.”

Mr. Smithers, who is based in Orange Park, Florida, has been interim CEO since last June and previously was the NBCH's chief operating officer. He said Tuesday that he is not in the running for the permanent position, and plans to retire after the new CEO is found.

Former CEO Brian Klepper left the NBCH last May in what he said Tuesday was a “disagreement with the board” over the direction of the organization and has since started his own company.

Mr. Smithers said Tuesday that Mr. Klepper joined NBCH with a “fairly aggressive agenda” to align the organization with the direction of the health care industry. Though he wanted the organization to get more involved in helping employers contract directly with health care providers, Mr. Smithers said “the timing was not right” and the board sidelined the endeavor.

Mr. Klepper has since formed Health Value Direct, an Orange Park, Florida-based consultant.

In a statement, the NBCH said applications for president and CEO will be accepted through the end of business Jan. 15.
