Bermuda specialty insurer starts underwriting in London

Fidelis Insurance Holdings Ltd., a Hamilton, Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer, said Tuesday it has launched a London-based underwriting operation.
The business will begin underwriting effective immediately and will initially focus on specialty lines including political risk, war, terrorism and political violence, space, specialist marine and energy products, Fidelis said in a statement.
Dan Burrows will serve as U.K. CEO. Nick Burkinshaw, chairman of specialty, and Richard Coulson, specialty lines underwriter, will also join the team, according to the statement.
“A London-based business gives us the platform to build out our specialist insurance business and under Dan’s leadership I am certain that we will rapidly establish ourselves as a new force within the London market,” Richard Brindle, group CEO of Fidelis Insurance, said in the statement.
