Hurricane Sandra strengthens to Category 3 storm off Mexico

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said that hurricane Sandra has strengthened to a Category 3 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast, reports Reuters.

Hurricane Sandra has now become the strongest ever recorded storm in the eastern Pacific for this late in year, the NHC said. The NHC has forecast a weakening of the hurricane to a tropical storm as it reaches the nation's Baja California peninsula.
