Ace, Chubb unveil leadership roles; name Asia, Latin America leaders

John Keogh has been appointed executive vice chairman of Ace Ltd., adding to his existing roles as vice chairman and chief operating officer, the company said.

Mr. Keogh will continue in his role as COO with responsibility for all property/casualty insurance operations of the company globally. The new appointment is effective immediately, Ace said Thursday in a statement.

The company also named leadership teams for its Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Far East regions in separate releases Friday.

Serving as senior vice president of the new Chubb Group and regional president for Latin America, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Central America and the Caribbean, will be Jorge Luis Cazar.

Reporting to Mr. Cazar will be: Marcos Gunn as president for the Northern Latin America Region, which includes Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and COO for Latin America; Herman Weiss as president for the Andean Region, which includes Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; Antonio Trindade as country president for Brazil; Pablo Korze as senior vice president for commercial property/casualty, Latin America; Fabiola Franco as senior vice president for accident and health, Latin America; and David Heard as senior vice president for personal lines, Latin America.

In the Asia Pacific region, which includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, Juan Luis Ortega will serve as senior vice president of the new Chubb Group and regional president for Asia-Pacific.

Reporting to Mr. Ortega will be Paul McNamee as deputy regional president and executive vice president for commercial property/casualty, Asia-Pacific; Glen Browne as senior vice president for accident and health, Asia-Pacific; Edward Ler as senior vice president for personal lines, Asia-Pacific, and country president of Indonesia; and Kevin Bogardus, who is joining the Asia-Pacific leadership team as managing director for China.

Jeff Hager will serve as regional president of the Far East region, comprising Japan. Reporting to Mr. Hagar will be Mike Cellura as vice president for property/casualty, Far East; Andrew Nisbet as vice president, accident and health, Far East; Taras Lykho as vice president for personal lines, Far East; Hisahiko Sasaki as vice president and chief distribution officer, Far East; and Leo Takagi as COO for the Far East region.

Messrs. Cazar, Ortega and Hager will all report to Juan C. Andrade, executive vice president of Ace personal lines and COO of Ace overseas general, and executive vice president of the Chubb Group and president of the overseas general insurance division.

Additional appointments

Paul Lewis will serve as chief underwriting officer, property and casualty for Ace Ltd., the company said in a statement Friday.

His is among several appointments announced reporting to Steven Pozzi, senior vice president of the new Chubb Group and division president of North America commercial insurance.

Also reporting to Mr. Pozzi will be James West as North America segment leader; Alex Wells leading specialty casualty/contracting/construction; Paul A. Larson leading commercial insurance management liability; Keith M. Lavigne leading private/not-for-profit management liability; Michael Tanenbaum, leading professional liability; Andrew Hurleyas, product development and implementation leader; Gerald Ippolito as Customarq Project/online platform solutions leader; Michelle Middletone as head of the Eastern Underwriting Center; and Michael Slor as head of the Western Underwriting Center.

A team of region managers who will also report to Mr. Pozzi including John Mizzi as region manager for New York and Boston; Jane Peterson as region manager for Philadelphia and Atlanta; Kenneth Chung as region manager for Los Angeles and Dallas; Jeff Fischer as region manager for Chicago; and Ana Robic as region manager for Canada.

“The joining of Chubb and Ace enables us to offer world-class underwriting, claims and loss-control services to middle-market customers and their agents across the U.S. and Canada,” said Mr. Pozzi in the statement.
