China showing growing interest in Bermuda's reinsurance market: Official

Chris Garrod, an official at Bermudan law firm Conyers Dill &Pearman Ltd., has said that China is becoming increasingly interested in Bermuad’s reinsurance market following the recent Tianjin explosions that resulted in insured losses of up to $3.3 billion, The Royal Gazette reported.

"It is estimated there are approximately $3 billion of losses at least in the Chinese property/casualty market as a result of that event, and that could very well lead to more Bermuda interest," Mr. Garrod said.
