BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

OSHA to award $10.5 million in safety training grants

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Wednesday said it will award $10.5 million in grants to nonprofits to train high-risk workers and their employers on how to prevent workplace hazards and injuries.

The grants, provided through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, will be awarded to 80 groups, including labor unions, colleges and universities, faith-based groups and employer organizations, OSHA said in a statement.

The groups will train workers and employers to mitigate safety threats such as hazardous chemical exposure and construction hazards. Five of the grant awardees are organizations that will perform safety training for nail salon workers, OSHA said.

“Susan Harwood training grants save lives,” U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez said in the statement. “The hands-on training supported by these grants helps assure that workers and employers have the tools and skills they need to identify hazards and prevent injuries.”
