A popular restaurant has learned that playing with food can get you sued.
A St. Louis woman whose cornea was injured after being struck by a thrown bread roll is suing Sikeston, Missouri-based Lambert’s Café, where the incident occurred.
Troy Tucker filed a lawsuit Tuesday after being injured during a September 2014 visit with her Bible group to Lambert’s, the self-proclaimed “Home of Throwed Rolls,” which is known for its practice of having servers lob bread rolls at diners, according to news reports.
Ms. Tucker must have missed.
She claims to have “sustained a lacerated cornea with a vitreous detachment and all head, neck, eyes and vision were severely damaged” after being hit by the roll, Fox 2 News in St. Louis reported.
She is suing Lambert’s for $25,000 to cover medical bills and legal fees, and claims the injury has already cost her $10,000, according to reports.
The lawsuit claims that Lambert’s knew or should have known that throwing bread rolls could cause injury, and that it “failed to adequately train its employees” on how to throw rolls “without posing a danger to its dining customers,” media outlets reported.
This isn’t the first time “throwed rolls” have landed Lambert’s in hot water. Lambert’s general manager said the restaurant has previously paid for the medical expenses of patrons hit by rolls, media outlets reported.
Employers need not have any worries about being on the losing side of “failure to hire” lawsuits, at least based on some of the resume blunders described in a survey by Chicago-based CareerBuilder L.L.C.
