Spanish insurer Mapfre S.A has reported a rise in premiums in its LatAm North region in the first half of the year, reported BNamericas.
The rise is attributed to the large contracts won by its Mexican subsidiary.
Between January and June 2015, Mexican premiums increased 105% to €887 million ($973.19 million) resulting in a 82.6% rise in written premiums in the LatAm North region to €1.18 billion ($1.29 billion).
The LatAm North region consists of Central America and Mexico. Out of the group's €12.98 billion ($14.24 billion) in consolidated aggregate premiums, 9.1% was represented by Mapfre's LatAm North region and 10% was represented by the LatAm South region.
