Heavy rains in Pakistan affect more than 250,000 people

Heavy rains and flood have impacted the north and south of Pakistan, reports AFP.

This has led to dozens of roads and bridges being swept away in Chitral district in the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Over 250,000 people have been affected and it has led to the death of 36 people.

Floods have inundated villages in south Punjab, while livestock and people have been swept away in the northeastern Kashmir region and the southwestern Baluchistan province. "According to the reports we have received until now, 26 people have been killed in Chitral, three in Punjab province and seven in Baluchistan. Up to 350 villages have been damaged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and 422 in Punjab," said Ahmed Kamal, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Authority.
