New Zealand insurers' earnings increase

New Zealand's general insurers have increased their earnings from premiums by at least double the rate of other nations in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development following the Canterbury earthquake.

Figures from Davies Financial and Actuarial Ltd. show that earnings from fire and general insurance premiums in the country increased by 9.2% in 2014, Interest.co.nz reports.

The country's insurers have been receiving more premiums than insurers in France, Australia, the United States, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom, according to a report by Bank for International Settlements.
