CNA Financial Corp. has tapped former Chubb Corp. executive Kevin Leidwinger as president and chief operating officer of its commercial segment, effective June 22.

Mr. Leidwinger replaces Robert Lindemann, who retired from CNA in December, a spokesman for CNA Financial said Tuesday.

Based in Chicago, Mr. Leidwinger will lead the CNA commercial team in its underwriting and growth strategies, the insurer said Monday in a statement. He will report to CNA Chairman and CEO Tom Motamed, also a former longtime Chubb executive, according to the statement.

Previously, Mr. Leidwinger served as global casualty manager with Chubb, overseeing the firm's $3.3 billion portfolio of general liability, workers compensation, excess umbrella, auto, errors and omissions and environmental business, according to the statement.

Prior to that, he was global liability product line manager and U.S. field operations manager with Chubb, CNA Financial said.

“Kevin has a proven track record of executing on strategic goals through a focused and consistent approach to risk selection and underwriting processes,” Mr. Motamed said in the statement.
