Salmon, fruit exporters incur huge losses due to Chilean customs strike

An ongoing customs strike in Chile has resulted in huge losses for Chilean exporters, reports Brandon Sun citing The Associated Press.

The customs strike started on May 20 and is halting shipments of fruits and salmon. The strike has resulted in losses worth more than $30 million for the salmon industry. "So far we have about $16 million in losses in fresh fruit due to the shipping problems," said Ronald Bown, president of Chile's fruit exporters association.
