Retakaful prospects have been improving due to new entrants into the takaful market and a developing market for sharia-compliant insurance products, reports Reuters.
The retakaful sector is moving to displace the use of conventional finance. The trend of takaful firms to reinsure a significant part of their risk through conventional lines is now being challenged. "There is even regulatory impetus in some markets to help support this channeling of takaful risks to retakaful channels," said an official.
