El Nino may develop by June: Australian bureau

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology has upgraded its outlook for El Nino from watch to alert and said that the pattern might develop by June, Bloomberg reports.

There is at least a 70% chance of an El Nino in 2015, the bureau said.

"Tropical Pacific Ocean sea-surface temperatures are now just shy of El Nino levels," the bureau said.

The bureau said that all models suggest that further ocean warming would occur.
