Richmond, Virginia-based brokerage Rutherfoord, a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Agency L.L.C., on Tuesday announced its chairman, Thomas D. Rutherfoord Jr., has retired.
Mr. Rutherfoord, who has worked for the company for 44 years, was named president of the firm in 1986, and led the company to join Marsh & McLennan Agency as its mid-Atlantic hub in 2010, the broker said in a statement.
“In my 44 years with Rutherfoord, my greatest reward has come from contributing to the growth of our firm, our clients, and the wonderful associates who make our culture so unique,” Mr. Rutherfoord said in the statement. “We have grown accustomed to providing our clients with quality advice, a wide-array of exemplary services, and well-designed products offered through our insurance carrier partners.”
“We are thankful for the years of guidance from Tom over the past 44 years and wish him well in this next chapter of his life. He has been both a leader and a mentor to many business associates during his career, and his influence within the agency will be greatly missed,” Thomas Rutherfoord Brown, Rutherfoord's vice chairman, said in the statement.
