Insurer Fosun International eyes overseas acquisitions

China's Fosun International Ltd. is eyeing purchase of five insurers in Europe, the United States and Asia in 2015, Nasdaq reported.

Fosun is looking to spend at least $2.4 billion for the acquisitions.

Insurers are attractive owing to their pools of capital that can be invested to seek high returns, said Liang Xinjun, chief executive of Fosun.

"The persistent low interest rate environment in the United States and Europe has made the acquisition targets there look more attractive," said Mr. Xinjun.
