Foreign investment inflow worth 600 billion Indian rupees ($9.51 billion) in the coming five years is likely in India's insurance sector as the Indian Parliament amends the insurance law, Nikkei Asian Review reported.

The amended law provides for a boost in the foreign investment limit from 26% to 49%.

"Immediate inflows of around INR 200 billion ($3.17 billion)" is likely, said State Bank of India Ltd.'s Economic Research Department.

Insurers in the country would have greater capital access with increased foreign involvement.
