Zaragoza, Spain, is on high alert for flooding following rise in volume of river Ebro that flows through the city, Xinhua reported.

The volume of the river Ebro increased by up to six meters.

Zaragoza, which has a population of around 700,000 people, has been placed on orange alert.

Flooding triggered by heavy rains in recent days has badly affected northern and central regions of the country.

Many rivers have burst their banks in Spain's Basque region.
